Tadi Hill (Mituo District)

Tadi in Mituo is only 52 meters above sea level, but as the only hill in a wide lowland plain, it is strategically important. For years, there was a military installation here aimed at protecting the airport. Among all the mud volcanoes in the Kaohsiung area, Tadi is the closest to the shore. Apart from the badlands created by the erupted mudflows, Tadi also features thousand-year-old shell mounds and cultural relics from different historical periods. Many archeological artifacts have been unearthed here over the years. Formerly under military control, Tadi has been transformed into a cultural-tourism destination and a great outdoor classroom for studying nature and local culture.
